How Pakahiki works

This page explains how Pakahiki guides are planned, researched and kept current.

One question per guide

A guide starts from a single traveler question, such as the best time to visit a country or how to get between two cities. It covers what you need to decide and book, and stops when the question is answered. Some guides are short; country overviews are long.

Sources

Facts that affect a booking or a border crossing, such as visa rules, fees, timetables and opening seasons, come from official and first-party sources wherever they exist. Guides link to them in the text. Where sources disagree or a rule is changing, the guide says which source it follows and when it was checked.

Units and money

Distances and temperatures are given in metric units, with imperial figures in brackets where travelers usually expect them. Prices are given in the local currency, with an approximate US dollar figure and the date it was converted.

Updates

Each guide shows the date it was last updated. Guides about rules and prices are rechecked more often than guides about landscapes and history.
